Vibram FiveFingers - two months in

It's been two months in since my first Vibram FiveFingers review

Two months and one damaged pair of VFF's later, what do I think now?

The Good
They really are fantastic shoes for you. Total freedom of movement for your ankles and toes.

Increased balance. My toes have been become more splayed. In fact, I can even wiggle my little toes now. Apart from being a great party piece, your little toe provides vital stability for every step you take.

The arch of my foot has improved. Your foot arch is the suspension system of your body. It absorbs the weight of your body whenever you walk, run, skip or jump. Without the arch the weight of your body gets transmitted upwards through your foot which can lead to knee, hip and lower back injuries.

The Bad
They're expensive. Almost eye wateringly so for what you get in the box.

Not sure how hard wearing they are. The VFF's claim to last for 500 miles of use but I managed to tear a hole in my first pair after about a fortnight and I only kicked three people during that time. The replacements are holding up but we'll have to wait and see.

They really aren't best suited for the UK. Walking the dog at 6am in the VFF's usually leads to waterlogged shoes. You're going to get grass in them. Little bits of gravel can be very annoying.

The Ugly
Quick bit of nonsense to share with you. I wore my VFF's extensively for two weeks when there was actually a bit of sun, a time frame also referred to as the British Summer. Ended up tanning the top of my foot and got left with pale toes. Not an attractive sight.

BUT...
I really do love these shoes. Wearing smart shoes and trainers now feel so restrictive, it's painful. Luckily I have a business where I can wear them all day, and being a bloke, I'll probably keep wearing them well into the autumn and winter when it will be wildly inappropriate to do so.

And the good news...
I did a bit of haggling with the UK's main supplier of VFF's and negotiated a £5 discount for readers. They only accept Google Checkout at the moment so...

You'll need to visit Primal Lifestyle and use the discount code LiuK079min5

Have fun freeing your feet!
