TRX Suspension Trainer Review

Even more suspension training, courtesy of Fitness Anywhere's TRX system. Designed by ex navy SEALS, which ticks a few boxes on the macho bloke side of things, the TRX claims that it will make your body your machine. Really? We'll find out in this post and the follow up where we pit the TRX against the LifeLine Jungle Gym in a supension training system smackdown!

What you get inside the bag
Quite a bit actually, depending what package you opt for. The basic unit has the TRX system, which comprises of an anchor strap and the handle straps which loop through the anchor. Some packages have door anchors, DVD's and manuals.

Hooking the system up
I've hooked mine up to the chin up bar in the back garden but you can attach to a sturdy door or tree branch. It's a matter of looping the anchor strap over the bar and clipping the carabiner to the strap. Very simple and feels very stable

Adjusting the system height
You've got a clip and strap that you simply press and pull to raise and lower the handle height. Again, with a very strong clip, the system feels very secure.

The handles
All suspension training systems live or die by their handles; if you can't hold onto them then there's no training to be done! The TRX handles are winners! The handles are dense foam but with a solid core of some sort. Comfortable and durable.

Usability
The TRX scores highly on several fronts - it's simple to set up, strong and comfortable to use. A few minuses though. You'll need a LOT of space to do any sort of pull ups and it's a bit awkward to customise the gap between the handles. Apart from that, it's a lovely piece of kit to use.

Conclusion
This blog post is more of a tech spec than a full on review as I'm planning to compare the TRX to the Jungle Gym so keep an eye out for more of an opinion piece soon. In the meantime you can check out the UK TRX suppliers at:
