Jungle Gym Review

Jungle Gym Review - having fun monkeying around.
Suspension training is all the rage. From wannabe gymnasts on Olympic rings, to the TRX system (J-Lo uses it so it MUST be good...actually, sarcasm aside, it is pretty cool but way expensive) to one of my favourites, the Jungle Gym - hanging around whilst training has never been this much fun.

Why suspension training is good
One of the greatest ways of increasing the intensity of weight training is to increase the level of instability, recruiting more stabilising muscles and the all important core.

I use instability training mainly for the upper body and core; without going into too much detail, research shows that, for the general population, lower body training on unstable surfaces is at best an inefficient use of time.

Suspension training is just fun. That's why I use it a lot; it's a great laugh to just swing and hang about, wobbling and getting stronger!

Here's a quick video with a couple of exercises I love.

The Strength Company, the UK's offical LifeLine suppliers, sell the Jungle Gym and I heartily recommend getting a set - the newer versions have all sorts of funky attachments that allow you to hook it up indoors and strap your legs in for a lower body workout and they make a great complement to kettlebells!
